Skybound has hired former IDW Publisher and industry veteran Nachie Marsham as Senior Editor, and Tokyopop has promoted Lena Atanassova to Editor in Chief.

As Senior Editor, Marsham is tasked with overseeing Skybound’s partnership with LEGO Books and with developing a new line of original comics.Marsham was an Executive Editor at Disney Publishing, where he headed up Marvel Press, then went to IDW in September 2020 (see “IDW Hires Disney Publishing Exec as Publisher”). He was laid off in 2023 when the company underwent management changes (see “IDW Lays Off 39% of Staff, Delists Stock”).

Marshamis Skybound’s fourth major hire this year, and he joins a team that includes fellow IDW alumni Blake Kobashigawa and Alex Hargett (see “Skybound Builds Management Team”).

“Nachie Marsham adds an incredible amount of experience and passion to Skybound, and he’s already working to grow our original and licensed comic programs in new directions,” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher, in a statement accompanying the announcement.

Tokyopop has promoted Lena Atanassova to Editor in Chief. Atanassova, who joined the company in 2018, was previously the Brand Editor for Tokyopop’s LOVE x LOVE imprint (see “LOVE x LOVE”) and was instrumental in developing and expanding the line of diverse romances. In her new role, she will oversee the acquisition of new titles, including more horror, manhwa, and webtoons, and manage relationships with licensing partners such as Disney and Ubisoft.

“Lena’s passion for manga and storytelling makes her an asset to Tokyopop and her success in launching the LoveLove imprint, combined with her management skills and the way she resonates and connects with creators and fans, makes her perfectly suited to assume the role of Editor in Chief and help lead the company’s continued expansion and evolution,”Tokyopop Publisher and COO Marc Visnick said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
