Wizards of the Coast has offered more details about the upcoming 2024 Monster Manual, the third revised, updated, and expanded core rulebook for the latest iteration of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.  The new book will release on February 18.

Following up on the 2024 Player’s Handbook and 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide (see “Wizards of the Coast Reveals Full ‘Dungeons & Dragons 2024’ Lineup”), the 2024 Monster Manual completes the core rules for the current version of the game by providing Dungeon Masters with adversaries for the heroes to confront.  This will be the largest version of the Monster Manual ever published, with the addition of 75 new monsters bringing the total to over 500 across its 384 pages, as well as nine new high-level predators, 40 humanoid stat blocks, and variations on classic D&D monsters.  The book is also designed to help facilitate play through a redesign of the stat block used to describe monster abilities, adjustments to better balance gameplay, and new artwork.

An alternative version featuring a mind flayer cover will also be available.

The 2024 Player’s Handbook was the biggest launch in the 50 years of Dungeons & Dragons (see “‘2024 Player’s Handbook’ Becomes Fastest-Selling ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Product Ever”).

The company has announced plans for an event cycle timed for the release of the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide (see “Wizards of the Coast Offers Up New Event Cycle for ‘D&D:  2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide’ Release”).  A soundtrack album is also in the works (see “Wizards of the Coast Drops Preview Track from New ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Music Album”).
