Fresh Hollywood news has hit the wire, and it's time for a round-up!
Walt Disney Studios will make an animated - live-action hybrid series starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, according to Deadline. Oswald is a character created by Walt Disney in 1927 that was snared away from the animator by Universal in 1928, and inspired Walt Disney to create Mickey Mouse as a replacement. The character is now public domain, and The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau (see "Mandalorian") has convinced Disney to green light an animated series starring Oswald. Favreau will write and produce the project.
Columbia Pictures is developing a new Starship Troopers movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new movie will be a direct adaptation of the novel by Robert A. Heinlein, as opposed to a remake of the 1997 film (see "'Starship Troopers'"), and it will be helmed by Neill Blomkamp, who did District 9.
Disney has also released a new trailer for Lilo & Stitch (see below). This live action hybrid version of the Disney animated classic will hit theaters on May 23, 2025 (see "'Lilo & Stitch'").
TOHO animation dropped a trailer for a new My Hero Academia spinoff series (see below). The spinoff series of the anime (see "'My Hero Academia'") is titled Vigilantes, and it follows Koichi Haimawari, a dull college student, who is recruited to become a hero after he is saved by rogue hero Knuckleduster. This series hits Crunchyroll on April 7, 2025.
HBO Max revealed an official trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 (see below). This series, starring Pedro Pascal (see "'Fantastic Four' Cast") and Bella Ramsey, will begin streaming on April 13, 2025.
