Hollywood news is heating up heading into the end of February. Time for a round-up!
Marvel Studios has paused development on a few of their TV projects, according to Deadline. Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. have all been put on the back burner, as Marvel retools its approach to series development. The next series headed to Disney+ will be Daredevil: Born Again on March 4, 2025 (see "'Daredevil: Born Again'").
Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland, has been moved, according to Variety. It was originally slated for July 24, 2026 and will be pushed back to July 31, 2026 (see "'Spider-Man 4' Gets Date"). The change was made because Tom Holland stars in both The Odyssey, which heads to theaters on July 17, 2026, and Spider-Man 4, and it would make the star's promotional schedule easier for the two films.
Legendary Entertainment has named a new director for their upcoming reboot of the Street Fighter film franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kitao Sakurai will helm their film adaptation of the classic video game fighting series by Capcom. This film is set to head to theaters on March 20, 2026 via Sony Pictures (see "Best in Shows -- 2026").
DC Studio's Batman spin-off movie Clayface has found a new director, according to The Hollywood Reporter. James Watkins will head up this movie about the infamous Batman villain, which was greenlit in December 2024 (see "'Clayface'").
Image Comics' Nights has been optioned for development by Titmouse. The acclaimed supernatural coming-of-age comic by Wyatt Kennedy, with art by Luigi Formisano, is planned as an animated series.
