IDW Publishing has announced three new five-issue limited series to launch in July, August, and September 2025.
"Star Trek: Red Shirts is in honor of the nameless vaporized, incinerated, and otherwise blown apart, where they’re the main characters of a Star Trek-style suicide mission unlike any other," Cantwell said in a statement accompanying the announcement. "We will get to know these ensigns and lieutenants intimately before they are likewise crushed, disrupter’d, and sucked into space. Who will survive? Will any? And what is the true nature of their planetside mission to hunt down mysterious spies? This is a major melody Original Series-era story in the key of Death, one I’ve wanted to tell for years, equal parts fun and harrowing, subversive and celebratory of the boldest tunic color one can wear in Starfleet—security red."
Then in August comes Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Seeds of Destruction, by writer Robie Thompson (also a writer for season four of the Paramount+ Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) and artist Travis Mercer. This adventure story sends the characters Chapel, Una, La’An, and Spock, and a new character, the robot sidekick D6, on an adventure-filled voyage to an ice-covered planet. The first issue will feature a cover by Mercer and JP Jordan.
Captain Kathryn Janeway and the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager return in Star Trek: Voyager – Homecoming,by writers Tilly and Susan Bridges and artist Angel Hernandez, for a final resolution to the show that comes 30 years after its premiere. The final shot of Star Trek: Voyager showed the ship approaching Earth and then went dark. The comic is set moments later, when the captain and crew face a new last-minute threat. The first issue will have a cover by Hernandez and Charlie Kirchoff and as well as a photo variant starting Captain Janeway.
The crossover event Lore War is slated for release on April 2 (see “‘Star Trek’ Crossover”), and IDW also plans the one-shot Star Trek: Omega, which will be published on June 18.
