Beginning with Star Trek: Lore War #1, in stores March 26, 2025, the crossover will include the Star Trek ongoing series, Star Trek: Defiant, and various one-shot tie-in issues. Lore War #1 is by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Christopher Cantwell, and Davide Tinto. The crossover’s primary covers are by Malachi Ward.
In Lore War, Commander Data's evil brother, Lore, has made himself God of a recreated universe by using the Orb of Destruction. Lanzing calls it "the ultimate Star Trek comics crossover event — as the heroes and villains of the galaxy must band together to defend its very existence."
Group editor Heather Antos stated, "It's all been building to this moment. No, literally. From the original prelude in Star Trek #400 two years ago, the road map has always led to Lore War." As with that previous setup, there is a prelude story to Lore War in Star Trek #500, on sale now.
IDW launched its ongoing Star Trek series out of Star Trek #400 (see "IDW to Launch New ‘Star Trek’ Series"). Star Trek: Defiant began in March 2023 (see "IDW Expands ‘Star Trek’ Line").
IDW published a previous Star Trek crossover event, Day of Blood, in summer 2023 (see "IDW to Launch Star Trek Crossover").
