Magic: The Gathering – Tarkir: Dragonstorm claimed the top spot on the March 2025 TCGplayer Top 25 Sealed Products Chart (see “March 2025”). This chart provided new insight into trends developing in the TCG market.
This chart was pretty much all Magic and Pokemon TCG. Magic: The Gathering fans seemed to have received Tarkir: Dragonstorm with a fair amount of enthusiasm, which boosted the set's preorder numbers enough have it grab the #1, #3, and #5 spots. The set was particularity hot because it featured a new Mox card, which also came in a serialized version in Collector Boosters, and a couple of impressive planeswalkers (see “Ugin“). All in all, Tarkir: Dragonstorm seemed to be a solid set.
Pokemon TCG is just still burning up the charts like last month (see “Afterburners“). It took fewer slots on the chart and it didn't nab the #1 spot, but it still turned in quite a solid performance. This time, Pokemon TCG sales were fueled by both the Journey Together and the Prismatic Evolutions set SKUs. Pokemon TCG is still the hottest TCG and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime in the near future.
As for the rest of the big TCGs, only One Piece was able to take more than one slot on this chart, one of which was at #10. Star Wars Unlimited: Jump to Lightspeed Carbonite Edition booster boxes put a charge into this TCG's sales, landing it at #13, but the regular booster displays were absent from this chart. Disney Lorcana: Archazia's Island booster boxes made the very bottom of the chart at #25, which is a lackluster performance for this once on-fire TCG.
As another note, it is unclear what effect the new tariffs will directly have on the TCG market. Pokemon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, and several other TCGs seem fairly resilient to the tariffs because they are printed in the U.S. However, other TCG products like Magic: The Gathering and Bandai's TCG are printed in other countries, and if the tariffs are maintained, these TCG products could experience price incereases [correction 4.7.2025: Earlier, we stated that Magic: The Gathering products are printed in the U.S. These products are also printed in Japan and Belgium, and we have changed the article to reflect those facts. - e.d.].
