Drawn & Quarterly is promoting three employees to new positions, two to reflect co-owner status, the company announced.
Lucia Gargiulo, who has been at D&Q since 2019 and an assistant editor since 2022, has been promoted to Editor. Gargiulo acquired and edited two Spanish language graphic novels the company will release this year (Land of Mirrors and Cornelius: The Merry Life of a Wretched Dog), and co-edits work by Elise Gravel, Lee Lai, Keiler Roberts, Shirato Sanpei, and others.
Tracy Hurren has been promoted to VP Editorial and Co-Owner, after 15 years at the company, most recently as senior editor, and after joining the ownership group in the summer of 2023.
Julia Pohl-Miranda has been promoted to VP Marketing & Sales and Co-Owner after 16 years at the company and becoming a co-owner in 2023. Pohl-Miranda became Director of Marketing in 2015 (see “D&Q Promotes Pohl-Miranda”).
The changes come in the wake of the departure of founder Chris Oliveros, who stepped down in 2015 (see “Oliveros Stepping Down”), and sold the company in 2023 to Publisher Peggy Burns, Executive Editor Tom Devlin, Hurren, and Pohl-Miranda.
