Australian company Moose Toys has acquired the Bananagrams game franchise, the companies announced. The Bananagrams family of games is available in 30 countries and 16 languages. In North America, it's distributed by Asmodee and ACD Distribution in the U.S., and Asmodee (which acquired Lion Rampant) in Canada (see "Lion Rampant Inks Deal with Bananagrams").
"We've admired how this amazing team turned a simple idea into a household name, and we see enormous potential to continue its legacy as part of our ongoing strategy to accelerate our growth in the Games category," Moose Toys CEO and Co-Owner Paul Solomon said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Moose Toys launched its games division three years ago (when it signed an international deal with Hunt a Killer, see "Moose Games and Hunt a Killer"). Since then it's grown through acquisitions, licensing, partnerships, and new product development to a $100 million division.
