Erica Jeffrey from the British publisher Cinebook Ltd. writes and provides information on a couple of upcoming and anticipated releases:

Back in October 2006, Steve Bennett wrote upon learning that British publisher Cinebook was publishing Blake & Mortimer: The Yellow M, that the publisher "would make one weary Comic Book Guy very happy" if they would also "acquire the rights to Spirou" (see "Confessions of a Comic Book Guy--This Just In--Comics Not Gum").  That happy day has come.  Cinebook will release their English translation of Spirou & Fantasio: Adventure Down Under in January 2010 in North America (October 2009 in the UK).

Cinebook also addresses a point Bennett made in his column of 1/30/08 (see "Confessions of a Comic Book Guy--To The Good") -- that "no one ever... springs for an American translation" of European comics.  In fact, Cinebook's translation team includes French, British and North American editorial and translation professionals in order to render believable dialogue for readers on both sides of the Atlantic.  With over 100 titles in its lineup by the end of this year, Cinebook has gained a lot of experience in translating the layered nuances of Franco-Belgian comic books and graphic novels for English audiences around the globe.
