Gen Con reported attendance of 27,900 for its 2009 show in Indianapolis, down slightly from the “over 28,000” attendees announced last year (see “New Record for Gen Con Attendance”).  After a very busy Thursday on the exhibit floor, attendees seemed to turn their attention to gaming, with gaming rooms crowded for the remainder of the weekend, and the floor easier to navigate.

The show had a new record for Sunday attendance, with over 2000 walk-ups pushing it over the top.  The Family Fun initiative was a big hit, with twice as many badges issued as there were last year.

Over-all it’s a good showing for Gen Con over the last couple of years, with new record attendance in 08 and nearly the same in 09, despite a very difficult economy.
