Rob Edwards, who wrote The Princess and the Frog for Disney, has been brought in to adapt Kazu Kibuishi’s Amulet for Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. Smith acquired the rights to Amulet back in 2008 and saw the saga of a teenage boy and his sister who discover that they are gatekeepers to a mystical world of demons, monsters, and talking animals as a vehicle for his son Jaden and daughter Willow (see “Smiths in ‘Amulet’”).

 

According to Variety, it is not certain now whether Jaden or any other members of the Smith family will actually star in the film, but the trade paper described Amulet as a “high profile picture” at Warner Bros.
