Diamond Comic Book Distributors published the results of its Free Comic Book Day Survey and DCD’s Leslie Jackson said: “In reviewing the survey data, I think we can comfortably say that over one million customers visited a comic book shop on Free Comic Book Day.” Over 2.4 million comics were given to new and returning customers. Retailers ordered a record 2.7 million comics for the event (see “FCBD Orders at 2.7 Million”).
Over 91% of the stores participating in Free Comic Book Day 2011 had also participated in FCBD in 2010. Nearly 54% of stores experienced profits better than usual for a Saturday, while over 37% had profits greater than a Wednesday. 71.83% of the stores rated the experience as “extremely positive,” with 14.08% saying it was “somewhat positive,” 10.33% rated it “neutral,” 2.82% “somewhat negative,” and just .94% as “extremely negative.”
