Batman and Superman, two key members of the Justice League, will be on screen together soon, but it won’t be in a Justice League movie.  Will Arnett (Arrested Development) might strike some as a bit of a stretch to play Batman, but in Lego: Piece of Resistance, Arnett will voice the Lego mini-figure of the Dark Knight.  Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who directed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs for Sony, want Channing Tatum to voice Superman, but Tatum might not have the time in his busy schedule to accommodate the DC Lego movie.

While Arnett might not be the physical type to play Batman in a live-action film, he has plenty of experience doing voice work for animated films having worked in Ratatouille, Horton Hears a Who, Monsters vs. Aliens, Despicable Me, and The Secret World of Arrietty.

According to Variety, Christopher Pratt (Parks and Recreation), will voice the movie’s main character, an ordinary, mild-mannered Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for a Master Builder.  Chris McKay, who directs the stop-motion Robot Chicken for the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, will serve as co-director of the DC Lego movie, which is currently slated for release on February 28th, 2014.

Last year DC’s parent company Warner Bros. signed a major agreement with Lego building on the success of the Lego Batman: The Videogame, which has sold more than 12 million units since its release in 2008 (see "Warners/DC Expand Relationship with Lego").  Lego has access to DC’s entire library of characters, and is set to release a new set of Lego mini-figures based on Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
