Greater Than Games has completed another successful Kickstarter campaign, netting $327,403 from 2,175 backers ($150.53 average) to fund the new Sentinel Tactics: The Flame of Freedom tactical combat game and accompanying Sentinels Miniatures: The Flame of Freedom. Both are tentatively scheduled for December release.
Set in the world of Sentinel Comics, which includes GTG’s Sentinels of the Multiverse games (see "New 'Sentinels of the Multiverse' Expansion"), Sentinel Tactics: The Flame of Freedom is a standalone dice-based combat game that GTG developed jointly with Living Worlds Games. Set several years after the storyline established in the Sentinels of the Multiverse card game, players take control of super-powered heroes and villains to compete in tournament-style skirmishes on the hex-grid board or play through the included storyline from the comic.
The game will include large character panels for each game character, character Power Cards decks, scenario-specific power cards for villains, 8 hexagonal map tiles, tokens for characters and game effects, 18 6-sided dice (6 red, 6 white, 6 blue), a full-color rulebook and a full-color, comic book style scenario book. The game is for 2 – 8 players. MSRP is tentatively $39.95.
Sentinels Miniatures: The Flame of Freedom are optional add-ons for the game, and GTG’s first foray into miniatures, so they wanted to make them available separately from the game. The miniatures pack will include the Freedom Five heroes: Legacy, Bunker, Tachyon, The Wraith, and Absolute Zero, as well as the hero Ra, and the following villains: Baron Blade, Omnitron-V, and Citizen Dawn. MSRP is tentatively $29.95.
Paul Bender, Operations Director for Greater Than Games, confirmed that the game will release to trade "by or before December." He also confirmed they will have a prototype available for Gen Con.
