Spider-Boy #1 was one of 12 Amalgam comics published jointly by Marvel and DC in April 1996, between the third and fourth issues of the DC/Marvel crossover, featuring characters that were mashups of DC and Marvel superheroes; Spider-Boy is a blend of Superboy and Spider-Man. Just as when it was first published, the facsimile edition also comes in the middle of a DC/Marvel crossover, between September’s Deadpool/Batman #1 and November’s Batman/Deadpool #1 (see “Deadpool and Batman to Meet in Upcoming One-Shots from Marvel and DC”).
DC published the entire Amalgam crossover, including Spider-Boy #1, in omnibus format in 2024 (see “DC/Marvel Crossovers Combined in Two Omnibi”); the DC Versus Marvel Amalgam Age Omnibus had the top dollar sales of all superhero graphic novels tracked by ComicHub in Spring 2025 (see “Top Dollar Comics and Graphic Novels, Spring 2025”).
