New York Comic Con News: Oni Press has announce the acquisition of the rights to create a comic book series based on Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon Adult Swim animated series, Rick and Morty. With its demented alcoholic mad scientist protagonist (Rick) who takes his young grandson Morty on all sorts of wild cosmic and inter-dimensional adventures, including visits to that staple of comic book continuity, alternate universes.
The first season of the wildly surreal adventures of Rick and Morty has just been released on DVD (see "DVD Round-Up: 'Adventure Time,' 'Edge of Tomorrow,' 'The Wonder Years,' & New 'DBZ'"), which should help popularize the property.
Comics Alliance reports that Zac Gorman (Costume Quest: Invasion of the Candy Snatchers) will write the new Rick and Morty comic book. Details about the exact nature of the comic book’s narrative and how it will relate to the cartoon series and which artists will be involved in producing the comic should be coming from Oni over the next few weeks.
