More Hollywood news has arrived; it's time for another round-up!

A Minecraft Movie delivered an $80.6 million second weekend at the box office, according to Deadline.  While still a solid weekend, this puts A Minecraft Movie second (for video game movies) to the Super Mario Bros. movie, which racked up 92.3 million in its second weekend (see "'Super Mario' Sets More Records").

Hasbro Entertainment and Legendary Entertainment are reportedly in talks with Matt Johnson to direct a live-action Magic: The Gathering movie, according to Deadline.  Johnson co-wrote and starred in Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie and previously helmed Blackberry.  The Magic: The Gathering live-action movie was announced back in February 2025 (see "'Magic: The Gathering' Film").

The China Film Administration plans to moderately reduce the number of American films imported for Chinese audiences, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  This declaration was made in response to the recent tariffs placed on Chinese imports (see "Whipsaw Game").  The impact on Hollywood would be significant, as China is the second largest film market in the world.

Max announced that The Last of Us was renewed for a third season.  The second season of this show began streaming on April 13, 2025 (see "'The Last of Us'").

20th Century Studios will release a new Predator animated movie, according to The Hollywood ReporterPredator: Killer of Killers will hit streaming on June 6, 2025, and will release this year along with Predator: Badlands (see "'Predator' Movie Decloaked").  The studio also released a first look trailer for this movie (see below).

Sony Pictures Entertainment will develop a new adaptation of Love Everlasting, according to Deadline.  This movie will be based on the Harvey-nominated Image Comics' series by Tom King and Elsa Charretier (see "Eisner Award").  The movie will be helmed by Lenny Abrahamson with Jane Goldman set to pen the script.
