Cliff Curtis has been announced as the male lead for the pilot of Cobalt (Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson’s Walking Dead companion series), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Curtis (Gang Related, Missing) will play Sean Cabrera, a teacher who shares a teenage son, Cody, with his ex-wife Andrea Chapman. The series is still testing for the female lead role of Nancy Tomkins, a guidance counter who works with Sean, though her children, Nick and Ashley, have been cast (see "'Walking Dead' Spin-Off Gets First Cast Members").
TVLine has reported that the plot will cover a previously unseen corner of the zombie apocalypse, which may be a place where living people outnumber the walkers. The article also referred to previous buzz that the show will cover the early days of the outbreak and efforts to contain it.
