Upper Deck has confirmed it will be reviving the VS. System, and the first official VS release will premiere at Gen Con 2015.
Upper Deck sold a trial run of the VS. System card game (1200 units, 400 a day) at Gen Con 2014 to gauge interest in the revival of the product (see "'Vs. System' Revival Revamps Format"). Upper Deck’s Marvel Brand Manager Jason Brenner said Upper Deck would move forward with a new release for the brand if there was sufficient interest based on the Gen Con test. The format this time around will not be a CCG; VS. will be sold as a master set and/or decks.
The test products sold at Gen Con were all Marvel-based, but Upper Deck said a potential relaunch could also include other properties.
