Asmodee Editions, the maker of the bestselling games Dixit and 7 Wonders (see ‘7 Wonders’ and ‘Dixit’ Hit Big in USA”), has announced Timeline, a new family card game.

Players begin with a hand filled with inventions such as the light bulb, eyeglasses, the wheel, etc. and on the back of each card is the actual historical date of its invention.  Then, a single invention is placed in the center of the table, date side up, to determine the chronological starting point for the game.

Players in turn then attempt to guess or remember whether an invention in their hand was invented before or after the object in the center of the table.  They place their card to the left or right of the central starting card.  When a player’s card is turned over and the date is revealed the player’s card either stays in the timeline if correctly placed, or is discarded if it was incorrectly placed. Incorrect guesses cause that player to discard their card and draw more cards.  As the timeline fills in it becomes more and more difficult to correctly place cards. The first player to get rid of all their cards is the winner.

Timeline contains 109 game cards and a rulebook.  The game is for 2-8 players ages 8 and up and takes around 15 minutes to play.  Timeline will be released in September.
