IESB is reporting that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has indicated that once the Transformers film is finished, he will start working on the live action feature film version of another 1980s cartoon series owned by Hasbro -- G.I. Joe.  Di Bonaventura told IESB that the G.I. Joe movie would be set during the period before the rise of the COBRA organization and would depict how the soon-to-be-called COBRA Commander actually fashioned his worldwide terrorist organization.

Mark Wahlberg, who has worked with di Bonaventura in Four Brothers and the soon-to-be-released Shooter, is the producer's choice to play 'Duke' aka Sgt. Conrad Hauser, the field commander of the G.I. Joe team.

Needless to say, if the G.I. Joe live action film does get made, there will be no lack of tie-in movie merchandise (especially action figures) available.
