In July Tokyopop is publishing the initial volume of the Tokko manga by Tohru Fujisawa, the creator of the hugely popular GTO (Great Teacher Onizaka) manga.  The three-volume Tokko is a seinen manga series that blends elements of the supernatural and the police procedural.  The hero of Tokko, Ranmaru Shindo, and his sister Saya survived a massacre at their apartment complex that took the lives of their parents.  They moved to Tokyo where Ranmaru became a member of the sword-wielding Special Public Safety Task Force (or Tokko) and sought to track down the demons responsible for the murder of his parents.

In 2006 the Tokko manga was adapted into a 13-episode anime series directed by Masashi Abe, which has been released in the U.S. by Manga Entertainment and aired on the Sci Fi Channel as part of its Ani-Monday lineup from June to September of 2007 (see "Sci Fi Channel Adds Anime Block").
