Fantagraphics' Eric Reynolds sent out an update on the publisher's appeal for orders to help it recover from financial difficulties (see 'Fantagraphics Issues Appeal'), saying, 'This grass roots campaign looks to be a phenomenal success: if orders continue at close to the rate they have for the last five days, we project that by weeks' end we will have achieved our immediate goal of...$80,000.' Reynolds indicated that exceeding that number would help the distressed publisher pay off additional back debt. He described Fantagraphics owners Gary Groth and Kim Thompson as, '...gratified beyond words at the outpouring of support, both financial and moral.'
