BOOM! Studios will publish a new three-issue limited series, The War, by The Boys creator Garth Ennis and Somna co-creator Becky Cloonan.  The series began in BOOM!’s horror anthology Hello Darkness (see “Ongoing BOOM! Studios Anthology”), where it ran for seven episodes.  The War #1 will be an oversized issue collecting the first three chapters with a total of  37 pages of story, and future issues will have all new material.  The story centers on a group of friends in New York City who are trying to figure out how to survive an imminent nuclear war.

“As the world around us slides further into ruin, what better time to revisit the cheery subject of atomic obliteration?”  Ennis said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  “And who better to accompany me on this joyous journey than the wonderfully talented Becky Cloonan?”

The first issue will be released on July 30, 2025, with a main cover by Cloonan and variants by Tula Lotay, Jay Shaw, and Trevor Hairsine.
