According to the Hollywood Reporter New Line Cinema has optioned the Eisner-nominated comic book property, Ex Machina, published by Wildstorm/DC. New Line, which is a division of DC's parent company Time Warner, has also optioned Y-The Last Man, which, like Ex Machina, is written by Brian K. Vaughan. Ex Machina, which has been nominated for six Eisner Awards, is a political thriller about a New York City mayor with superpowers and it deals in a sophisticated way with many of the complex issues of our day such as 9/11, gay marriage and the subtle corruptions that even the most idealistic politician must endure. Vaughan, who also writes Runaways for Marvel, excels at high concept plotting and is currently one of the hottest writers in comics.
