Universal has brought in three more writers to join Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek) and Chris Morgan (Fast and Furious) in a writers brain trust to handle the planned series of films featuring its classic monster franchises, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) has been assigned The Wolfman, the first specific film mentioned since the announced reboot of The Mummy (see "'Prometheus' Scribe Rebooting ‘The Mummy'").
The other writers in the group are Noah Hawley, creator of Fargo, and Ed Solomon (Men in Black).
This is one more step in Universal’s plan to build a shared cinematic universe for its monsters (see "Universal Building Series of Monster Movies"), in which the monsters appear in each other’s movies.
A release date for the second monster film (after The Mummy reboot) has been set at April 21, 2017, but until a script is selected, it’s not clear which character will get made first.
