The Anime News Network is reporting that ADV has acquired North American rights to the Tokyo Majin anime, a supernatural shonen series about teens with special powers battling zombie-like demons. ADV has licensed both the first part of the Tokyo Majin anime (Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho To), which aired in Japan from January to April of this year, and the second portion of the series (Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: To Dai Ni Maku (Second Act), which is slated to be broadcast in Japan starting next month. The Tokyo Majin anime is based on a Playstation game that has also spawned novels, audio dramas and manga series.
ADV has announced that it will release Tokyo Majin on six DVDs, but has not released details concerning the date or price of the first DVD in the series. Tokyo Majin is a fast-paced 'teen vs. demons' series that should have a strong appeal to the same audience that has made Bleach such a big hit.
