The DVD of Zach Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's 300 topped the Nielsen VideoScan sales chart for the second week in a row.  The debuting teen thriller Disturbia, which earned over $80 million in the theaters, could muster only 53% of 300's DVD sales.  The Rear Window-esque Disturbia did narrowly edge out 300 in rental revenue for the week, earning $9.7 million to 300's $9.5 million (a drop of just 20% from its debut week for the scintillating Spartan saga).  300 easily topped high definition DVD sales for a second week.

Other films of interest to pop culture retailers debuting this week include Imagi Animation Studio's CGI TMNT feature, which came in at #3, and The Simpsons Season 10, which finished its debut week in the fifth position.

Enjoying a sales dividend from the success of the 300 DVD, Frank Miller's 300 graphic novel remained in the top 20 in graphic novel sales in bookstores for the second week in a row according to the latest BookScan report for the week ending August 12th.
