Veteran penciller Ron Lim will take over Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasures with issue #8. Lim will also create a special 'zombie' cover for Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: First Death #2. Brett Booth, who has been drawing the Anita Blake series, has moved on, so Marvel has replaced him with Lim, a talented and consistent artist who is perhaps best known for his six year run on The Silver Surfer from 1988-1994.
Anita Blake is one of the genre titles that Marvel has taken over from the Dabel Bros. (see 'Dabel Bros. Move On Again'). In fact, it is the most successful of the group, as evidenced by the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasures hardcover having stayed in the top 25 on BookScan chart of graphic novels sold in bookstores since it debuted in July, making it the one of the fastest-selling non-manga titles released so far in 2007.
Marvel has recently rescheduled a number of titles that it has taken over from Dabel Bros. including both Anita Blake titles, Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: First Death #2, which has been switched from October 3rd to October 17th, and Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasures #7 (rescheduled from October 3 to November 21). Other former Dabel Bros. titles that have had their dates shuffled include Hedge Knight 2: Sword Sword #4 (rescheduled from Oct. 3 to Nov. 14), Magician Apprentice #10 (delayed from Oct. 3 to Oct. 24), Red Prophet #11 (moved from Oct. 3 to Oct. 31), and Orson Scott Card's Wyrms #6 (changed from Oct. 3 to Nov. 24).
Marvel has not announced any other creator changes on the books, but a Marvel spokesperson told ICv2 that the announced delays in the former Dabel Bros. titles were an attempt by Marvel to reschedule the books and get their production on a sound footing to 'ensure that the books come out in a timely fashion for the fans so they don't have the delays we saw previously.'
