According to Variety, the remake of John Carpenter's Escape from New York (see 'Snake Plissken Returns') is stalled, with Gerard Butler, who was signed to play Snake Plissken, departing over creative differences. 

Len Wiseman, who had been slated to direct, is apparently out, as Jonathan Mostow (T3) has been asked to rewrite the script, with an option to direct.
