According to The Hollywood Reporter, Davis Entertainment, which helped bring I, Robot, Alien vs. Predator, and Eragon to the screen, has optioned Boom! Studio's science fiction comic book series North Wind.  Written by David DiGilio, who also wrote the underappreciated ABC TV series Traveler, North Wind is a post-apocalyptic saga set in an ice-covered Los Angeles.  As in the movie The Day After Tomorrow, the apocalyptic premise involves the somewhat counterintuitive proposition of a new ice age brought on by global warming.  Regardless of the validity of its underlying scientific premise (and there is considerable debate about what a major disruption of the current climate conditions could engender), North Wind is a ripping good yarn about a fractured society in extremis.

North Wind is just the latest of a number of Boom! Studios comics and graphic novels that have been optioned for the silver screen -- Tag and Talent are in development at Universal, while Paramount has The Foundation, and Ice Cube's CubeVision is adapting 10 for Dimension Films.
