Universe Publishing, an imprint of art book publisher Rizzoli New York, is publishing The Art of the Dark Knight ($35, ISBN 978-0-7893-1812-1), a sumptuously illustrated behind-the-scenes look at the production of Christopher Nolan’s second Batman film that also includes the complete script of the movie plus a plethora of extras.  The 256-page hardcover volume contains over 300 color and black-and-white illustrations including storyboard art, character sketches, still photos and personal behind-the-scenes material created by director Christopher Nolan.

The Art of The Dark Knight is set for a July 22nd release to coincide with the release of the new Batman film, which provides a fresh take on the deadly “cat and mouse” game between the Caped Crusader, played by Christian Bale, and his arch nemesis The Joker, who is portrayed in a riveting performance by the late Heath Ledger.
