Producer Don Murphy has told the ShockTillYouDrop Website that John Stevenson, the lead director of the animated hit Kung Fu Panda, has been attached to direct the live action/CGI adaptation of the Vertigo mini-series, We3.  The screenplay for We3 has been written by Grant Morrison, who adapted his own hyper-violent 2004 comic book series about a trio of test animals (a cat, a dog, and a rabbit) who are fused prototype combat suits.  As befits what is perhaps the most violent “talking animal” comic of all time, the producers indicate that theWe3 movie will be R-Rated.

The We3 comic was optioned in 2005 by New Line (see “We3’ Gets Movie Deal”), but Murphy told ShockTilYouDrop that “the new New Line doesn’t want to do these kind of movies.”  Fortunately, according to Murphy, there are two other studios interested in seeing the We3 project to fruition.
