The nation’s largest retailer is taking a big position in the Twilight property in conjunction with the DVD release March 21st.  All 3500 Walmart stores and the Walmart.com Website will feature Twilight stores with a broad assortment of Twilight merchandise.  

 

Beginning in mid-March and running through April, Walmart’s Twilight stores will offer the two versions of the DVD (standard or special edition), CD soundtrack, the Twilight book series, apparel, messenger bags and totes, posters, jewelry, key chains, and accessories.  Online, Walmart will offer unique content, including behind-the-scenes movie footage, in addition to the merchandise selection.

 

The film, which finished as the #7 movie of 2008 (see “Top Films Stand Pat”) and for which there’s a quick sequel planned (see “Twilight Director off Sequel”), is only one aspect of the huge tween and teen phenomenon around the Twilight YA vampire novels by Stephanie Meyer.  The book was the #1 seller across genres in the U.S. in 2008.
