The brand-new rulebook is designed with a special focus on teaching new players how to play games of Malifaux. These new rules are also made to help reduce play time of the game; Malifaux 3E games (see "New 'Malifaux 3E'") could last up to four hours, while the new edition reduces play time to around two hours. Wyrd has also updated the scheme system, reducing the number of starting schemes from two to one, but then adding a "next available scheme" mechanic where a player can add an additional scheme once they complete the first one. Also, strategies will now get scored at the end of every turn, and the player that scores the strategy takes all the points.
