The script for the Universal movie based on Steven Grant’s graphic novel 2 Guns (see "Universal Straps on 2 Guns"), published by Boom! Studios, will be written by Brotherhood creator Blake Masters, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Marc Platt, who produced Wanted and the upcoming Scott Pilgrim film, is producing the crime saga about a robbery with a twist--a classic bank heist caper-gone-wrong like Don Siegel’s Charley Varrick.

2 Guns, which originally appeared as a five-shot mini-series, was published in graphic novel form by Boom! Studios last May.  It features the kind of clever plotting readers have come to expect from Grant, a veteran comic book writer who also pens a column for the Comic Book Resources Website.

According to the Reporter, the studio sees 2 Guns as a “throwback to the classic ‘80s cop buddy movies in the vein of Lethal Weapon and 48 Hours, but with a modern spin.”
