Variety is reporting that Universal has set July 1, 2011 as the date for the debut of the feature film based on Hasbro’s Battleship game.  Battleship will be the second film release resulting from Universal’s pact with Hasbro.  Universal has already set a date of April 15th, 2011 for a live-action Stretch Armstrong film (see “Stretch Armstrong Movie in 2011”). 

Peter Berg (Hancock) is directing the live action Battleship film, which is being written by Jon and Erich Hoeber, who penned Whiteout (see “Battleship Gets Director, Writers”).  According to Variety, production will begin on Battleship next spring.
