Feature film rights to Masters of the Universe are landing at Sony’s Columbia Pictures, following the end of Mattel’s relationship with Warners on the property (see “Warners Off MotU”).  Mattel allowed Warners’ option on the property to expire after creative differences emerged. 

Development now starts over, with a new script expected, and possibly a new director (John Stevenson of Kung Fu Panda had been attached).

Escape Artists (Taking of Pelham 123, Pursuit of Happyness) will produce.
