The Avengers:  Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will debut on Disney XD this fall, expanding the Marvel presence on parent Disney’s boys channel.  The series, which was announced with 26 episodes in 2008 (see “Marvel Preps New Toon Series”), was given a 52-episode order.   The show will be launched behind a 20-episode micro-series laying out the characters’ backstories, which will be followed immediately by the series premiere.   

The new Avengers TV series will lead into two Avengers-based theatrical features planned for 2011, and the big Avengers feature in 2012.
