Christopher McQuarrie (X-Men, Valkyrie) has turned in a script for a second Wolverine film.  According to various sources at 20th Century Fox the story for the second Wolverine film takes place in Japan where Logan has gone to perfect his skills in the martial arts and involves a love story that will make it “a very different film from the first one.”

The script appears to be based on the 1982 Wolverine mini-series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that has been collected in Marvel's The Best of Wolverine, Vol.1

According to the Latino Review, Fox plans on beginning production on the second Wolverine film in Japan in early 2011 with Hugh Jackman returning as the adamantium-enabled X-Man.  No director has been named for this project yet.  If it is to remain on track, the announcement of a director should happen sometime in the next few months.
