IDW Publishing has acquired to rights to create a new line of licensed comics based on Universal’s Jurassic Park franchise.  In June IDW will launch a five-issue Jurassic Park mini-series written by comics veteran Bob Schreck, who quipped that he was ideally suited for the project since he was born in the Jurassic era himself.  Nate Van Dyke will provide the interior art while Tom Yeates and Frank Miller will produce cover art for the first issue.  In addition to producing its own original Jurassic Park comics, IDW will also reprint the Topps’ Jurassic Park comics from the 1990s, most of which have never previously been reprinted, in a trade paperback collection.

Each issue of the initial mini-series, Jurassic Park: Redemption, which takes place 13 years after the events portrayed in the first Jurassic Park movie, will feature a cover by Tom Yeates along with a variant from a major artist.  As mentioned above Frank Miller will provide the variant for #1, followed by Arthur Adams, who will create a variant cover for issue #2, with Paul Pope on #3, Bernie Wrightson on #4, and paleo-artist and all-around dinosaur maven Bill Stout (see “New Dinosaur Books From William Stout”) on #5.   The 32-page full color comics will have a cover price of $3.99.
