Abrams ComicArts will publish Harvey Pekar’s last book, Yiddishkeit, which was completed when he passed away earlier this month (see “Harvey Pekar-RIP”). The graphic novel consists of an autobiographical section at the beginning, and illustrated stories on different aspects of Jewish and Yiddish culture, a main narrative that goes throughout the whole book.
The title, Yiddishkeit, means “Jewishness” in Yiddish, and is generally used to refer to Yiddish culture.
Paul Buhle, who edited a number of books written by Pekar, also put together this volume.
The Fall 2011 title will be approximately 240 pages.
