Mark Romanek, who is best known as a director of music videos and the feature film One Hour Photo, has signed on to direct the pilot episode of the horror series Locke & Key, which is based on the IDW comic book series written by Joe Hill. Miranda Otto, who played Eowyn in the Lord of the Rings movies, will portray the matriarch of the Locke clan Nina.
The Locke & Key series is being produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who are responsible for the popular reboot of the Hawaii Five-0 series. Originally Kurtzman and Orci had planned to make a Locke & Key feature film, but switched the project to TV and received a series commitment from Fox (see “Fox Picks Up Locke & Key”). According to Deadline Hollywood, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles creator Josh Friedman has written the script for the pilot.
