Ads for comic-based movies will make a strong showing during the Super Bowl broadcast, with at least three already slotted, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Comic-based films with spots planned include Thor (opening May 6th, see “Thor in 3-D”), Captain America: The First Avenger (opening July 22, 2011, see “First Look at Captain America” for the costume), and Cowboys and Aliens (with Harrison Ford, see “Harrison Ford in Cowboys & Aliens,” opening July 29th).

Other genre films with ads appearing on the broadcast include Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Spots during the game are running about $3 million for a 30-minute spot.

Sony will air an ad for Priest (now opening May 13th, see “Movie Dates Shift”) in the pre-game show.

Warner Bros. has not bought any time for Green Lantern yet.
