The Superheat Skateboard Card Game from Super Heat Games has product design, marketing, and distribution designed to appeal to multiple audiences. Superheat is being positioned both as a TCG and as trading cards, with appeal to both gamers 9-12 and older skateboarders.
The game positioning draws on game design by Justin Gary (Ascension, RedaKai) and collectible card game packaging. Distribution to the game market will rely on Konami’s powerful distribution network (see “Konami to Distribute Super Heat Games”), which also sells Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. The game is designed to appeal to a core TCG audience of 9- to 12-year-old kids.
The positioning as trading cards includes a strong focus on the best-known skateboarders, who can be collected like the stars in any other sport. Superheat will have athletic endorsements from 35 of the top skateboarders in the world. Collectors are expected to be 18+. Card stores and skate shops will sell Superheat to help reach this audience. Future boosters will include autograph and other chase cards tied to the athletes.
A major marketing budget will support release of the game, including TV advertising on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Fuel, ESPN, and Disney Channel.
The first Superheat Skateboard Card Game release will street May 24th. Another booster set will follow in September.
