Genndy Tartakovsky, the animator behind Samurai Jack and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has created an animated prologue for the Priest movie, which is based on Min-Woo Hyung's manhwa masterpiece. Priest, which is directed by Scott Stewart, debuts in 3-D in theaters on May 13th.
The prologue, which is introduced by Maggie Q, one of the stars of the film, depicts the age-old struggle between vampires and humans, which leads to the rise of a class of warrior priests, who are promptly shunned once their task has been accomplished. Tartakovsky's anime-influenced Samurai Jack-like visuals are perfect for this short narrative and the transition to live-action Priest star Paul Bettany is sweet. It almost makes you wish that Tartakovsky could have animated the entire Min-Woo Hyung saga.
