Here's an amazing short clip from the new Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie that will be released on August 5th.  The film is a prequel to The Planet of the Apes saga and shows how the apes gained the intelligence that allowed them to take over the planet.  This 5 second clip released by WETA, which is doing the special effects, demonstrates a huge advance in the realistic depiction of ape intelligence.

This chimp's gaze not only reveals intelligence, but also malevolence.  If all the special effects for Rise of the Planet of the Apes are as good as this bit, the film, which stars James Franco, could be the surprise hit of the summer.
