Dan Verssen Games has announced the August 1st release of Field Commander Napoleon (MSRP $99.99), a solitaire board game that is the third entry in DVG’s Field Commander series (Alexander the Great & Rommel are the other two).  The game, which includes 7 large (11” x 17”) full color Wibalin-wrapped mounted map boards, is so massive that it requires a 4” high box.

Field Commander Napoleon places the player in the role of Napoleon Bonaparte as he struggles to expand and defend France.  It includes 11 campaigns that cover all of Napoleon’s military adventures from his first campaign in Italy in 1796 to his final battle at Waterloo in 1815.  Each campaign requires only 1-2 hours to complete and can be played either as a stand-alone game, or combined into a linked career path.

The game uses a strategic movement system with an AI built-in to control the opposing forces.  Battle are resolved on a tactical map using realistic battle options including line and column formations, cavalry charges, and infantry squares.
