Sony has released a new poster for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the sequel to 2007’s Ghost Rider. Like the original, the second Ghost Rider film stars Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze. While the first Ghost Rider movie just about broke even theatrically, earning $228.7 million worldwide against a cost of $110 million, the announcement of a sequel didn’t stir much enthusiasm, at least until it was announced that directing duo of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank) would bring their testosterone-infused style to the film.
Now with the release of some footage that apparently shows Johnny Blaze urinating fire (apparently without having the clap), and this poster, which is all blazing skull, fiery motorcycle, and molten chains, it would appear that the Neveldine and Taylor have a pretty good idea of what the essence of this franchise is all about. The question, which won’t be answered until March, is whether this vision will translate into a film that can improve upon the box office performance of the original.
